ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS CLASS OF 2010:  Please let the parish office know when you decide on a college for next year.  We have been asked by the Diocese to provide them with that information to allow the Newman Centers on South Dakota campuses to prepare to welcome you.

DAILY MASS STIPENDS:  Over the years we have experienced various numbers of mass requests and at times have an over abundance, but at this time we are rather low.  Our weekend Mass requests fill up rapidly, but we are in need of daily mass requests.

THESE ARE DIFFICULT ECONOMIC TIMES:  Catholic Family Services is here to help.  Don't let cost be a deterrent.  We'll work with you.  We have several options that can help with the cost of counseling.  Call today ....886-6321.

KEEPING THE PARISH INFORMED:  Please notify the parish office when you move or change your phone number.  We need to keep our records current.  Each piece of returned mail costs the parish $.50 and our costs continue to rise dramatically.  We do not share our data base with any companies or telemarketing businesses.

I.C. SCHOOL keeps a container on the reading table in the gathering area here at Holy Name for your contributions of the following:  Box Tops for Education, Kemps milk caps, County Fair stamps, and Campbell soup labels.  These items help in purchasing equipment for the school.

COMMUNION MINISTERS are needed to take communion to the patients at the hospital.  Ministers are scheduled for one week at a time, approximately once every three months.  You take communion once a day, at your convenience, during your assigned week.  Please contact Mary at 886-3368 if you would be willing to help with this important ministry.

NEWS FROM IMMACULATE CONCEPTION SCHOOL

Upcoming Pizza Ranch fundraiser dates are:  March 8, April 26, and May 3.  The staff and students bus tables for "tips" plus the school gets a percentage of the sales for the evening.

Preschool Open House/Registration will be held on Monday, March 22nd from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.  Mrs. Roby teaches 3 and 4 year olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The morning class is from 8:45 - 11:00 a.m. and afternoon class is from 1:00 - 3:15 p.m.  The Monday, Wednesday, and Friday class is taught by Mrs. Thorson, and is for 4 and 5 year olds.  Morning class time is 8:45 - 11:00 a.m. and afternoon class is 1:00 - 3:15 p.m.  We are proud of our preschool program.  The student lessons are designed around the Early Learning Guidelines that have been developed by the South Dakota Department of Education.

We will be going to school all day on March 17th.  We will have bus service in the morning, but parents will have to pick up their children at the end of the school day because Watertown public school has an early dismissal that day.

We will be hosting a Schwan's Truckload Sale.  Catalogs will be going home with our students on March 12th.  Catalogs will be given out at the masses on the weekend of March 13-14.  The Schwan's products will be available for pick up on March 28th after the masses.

A portion of our school budget depends on fundraiser efforts to meet the needs of our school.  Parents have the flexibility to pick and choose which fundraiser(s) they wish to support.  Scrip is an on-going fundraiser for our school.  We appreciate everyone who continues to support our school through the use of scrip.  The cost per student to educate our students exceeds the $1,450 that is paid per student.  We have to raise the rest of the needed revenue from other sources.

Congratulations to Evelyn Flaherty for writing a winning essay in the Optimist Club Essay Contest.  She is in the 7th grade at Watertown Middle School.  She donated her check for $30.00 to the Immaculate Conception School library.  Thank you, Evelyn, for remembering our school with your gift!

Thank you to Joe and Lou Roby and Jim and Annette Roby for the memorial gifts give to our school in memory of Rick Roby.  These gifts will be put into our tuition assistance fund.

We welcome Sister Marion Fischer to our school as a volunteer in the library on Monday mornings from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m.  We appreciate her willingness to assist us in the library!

Please check out the Immaculate Conception Gift Shop.  It has been restocked with new and interesting items!

As we all know, the economic hardship is affecting the Watertown area.  We have had numerous families share their financial concerns.  I can see that we will have a much larger need for tuition assistance than we have had previously.  If you are capable of assisting in any way, we would be extremely appreciative of your assistance!

Parents who wish to apply for tuition assistance, need to complete an application.  It is then submitted to an out-of-state firm who reviews the information and makes a recommendation as to what percentage of the tuition can be paid by the family and what percentage will be paid from the Tuition Assistance Fund.  The cost to send one child to Immaculate Conception School is $1,450 per year.  The cost for a second child in the same family is $1,050 and the third child is $750.  We are willing to work with families to make it a reality to send their children to our school.

We welcome each of you to visit our school website at http://icschoolwatertown.org Thank you, Mrs. Prasek, for updating the website!

Moving forward by faith,
Mrs. Dagel, Principal
